More than 300 people gathered in the Viking Conference Center in Sunset Hills on Oct. 10 for what the group Friends of Obama billed as "hope, hops and a whole lot of fun." The BaracktoberFEST fundraiser for presidential and vice presidential candidates Barack Obama and Joe Biden featured beer tasting courtesy of Schlafly Beer, wine tasting from Kirkwood winery D'Vine Wine, musical performance by Kim Massie and her band and a silent auction co-chaired by Webster University alumna Lucy Ryan.

A recent incident with Webster University Public Safety has left some students wondering if WU could handle a campus emergency. Two students reported seeing a man with a rifle in the parking garage at 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5 according to the Public Safety log.

New phone system is on the way for WU

Webster University is in the process of replacing its current phone system. This will mean that instead of having two phone systems on the campus, there will be only one, which should streamline the process of communication on WU's campus. At the moment, WU officials are choosing a company to install the system.
