Sustainability Coalition slow to act

Loss of original coalition leaders leaves staff, students unsure of future

The Sustainability Coalition, while still in existence at Webster University, has not been very active this year. A new president has taken office, and sustainability is not at the top of the priority list. Sustainability, a way of using resources so that neither the resources nor the environment are depleted, is a hot-button issue for many students concerned with global warming.

U.K. immigration policies limit international students

Lexus Nexus can never be more than part-time. As a student working in the United Kingdom, Fink, an American born MBA student at the Webster Graduate School London, can only work 20 hours a week at part-time jobs. Fink said she's been offered to go full time at some of her jobs but has had to turn down the companies because of work visa requirements in the U.

Webster participates in need-based student aid forum with 3 schools

Webster University was one of four higher-education institutions to attend a forum on need-based financial aid for college students Nov. 1 at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis. WU was praised for enrolling a large percentage of students who required financial assistance, but it was also pointed out that WU students required loans at a high rate.

A gathering of Webster University faculty in the Emerson Library conference room Nov. 10 produced discussions on several issues, including the recently announced forum with faculty, staff and administrators, the ongoing debate about the future of general education requirements and the fate of the legal studies department.

Student expelled over fight

Robert Macklin, a junior management major, has been dismissed permanently from Webster University for allegedly striking his roommate several times with a skillet. Macklin cannot come to the campus or enter any WU facility and will not be able to register for any upcoming semesters.
