WU track and field team begins outdoor season

The 2010 track and field season is all about personal records. "The goal is always to 'P.R.,'" said Zach Haupt, assistant track and field coach. Coach Dusty Lopez said he believes this year's group is motivated to accomplish just that. "It's hard to single out anybody, to be honest," Lopez said.

The WU softball team came away from its spring games with a 3-5 record, but remain upbeat regarding their performance. "We did better than I thought," said coach Chris Eaton. "I think we played some tough teams. That helps our new players develop confidence.

The few veterans on Webster University's softball team are going to need to put together a collective career year. Without it, this team is probably headed for a year of underachievement. One year after the Gorloks advanced to the NCAA regional finals before losing to Gustavus Adolphus College, WU looks like a shell of its former self, and not just in offensive production.

The Gorloks finally kicked their early-season struggles. After disappointing starts to the last two seasons, Webster University's baseball team was able to reverse that trend with a 3-2 showing in a season-opening stint in Florida. WU opened the year with a 2-1 win over Benedictine University on March 6 in Davenport, Fla.
