Freshman audio production major Ryan Alban helped with publicity for the event. Alban said he felt the date change was better for attendance.
"We wanted to choose a date where less stuff was going on so people wouldn't be out on dates instead of going to the auction," Alban said. "Since Beth was in Vienna, the planning sort of fell through the cracks."
Senior management major Dan Miller, who formerly helped plan the date auction, said RHA was not as prepared this year as in previous years.
"The problem was a lack of knowledge on everyone who had not done the auction before," Miller said.
Blumfelder said the event was wonderful this year.
"The atmosphere was more fun this year," Blumfelder said. "The audience was really into it."
Senior Gabe Bullard, a broadcast journalism major, showed some of that fun with a belt buckle that also served as a ticker that read "stop staring at my crotch." Bullard, who is the Student Government Association president, went for $100 to junior Jennifer Mullikin, a Residential Advisor in Building 1 of the Webster Village Apartments.
Bullard was not the only one with a clever belt buckle. Senior film production major Adam Hofbauer's outfit was accessorized with a Nintendo Entertainment System controller belt buckle. The highest bid for Hofbauer was $25.
Freshman international relations and education double major Jessie Chappell had a group of friends pool their money to buy her for $70.
"It was fun to get dressed up for a good cause," Chappell said. "I'll probably do it next year, too."
Freshman Josh Smith, whose major is undecided, bid for his RA, 1 East junior dance major Katelyn Minnick. Smith lost the bid to Matt Grant RA for 4 West and junior film production major.
Moore said she was rooting for fellow dance major freshman Mallory Gittemeier, freshman animation major Leah Bend, Grant and Minnick.
The last two people to be auctioned off for the evening were crowd favorites. Miller, RA for WVA building three, at the end decided to be bid on and performed his annual Michael Jackson-esque dance routine to "Billy Jean." His moves paid off when fellow WVA RA Heather Sweeney of Building 5 bought Miller for $125.
Though Miller was allowed to join the show the day of the event, Blumfelder said many students tried to sign up to be auctioned off after the deadline and were subsequently turned down.
Goines ended the show and got the crowd waving their hands back and forth to Jay Z's "Show Me What You Got." Junior Spanish major Shara Underwood bought Goines for $101.50 after a long bidding.
