• John Pendergast comes to Pearson House, room two to talk about Shakespeare and the Oil Men at 10 a.m. The literary critic will discuss the idea that cultural commoditization fueled the world of high finance and economics.
Friday, Nov. 21
• Webster University invites factulty, staff and students to the Thanksgiving Buffet at 11 p.m. in Marletto's Marketplace. Cash, mitten and sock donations are welcome and will be given to St. Peter and Paul Community Services.
• Eamon Colman is welcomed to the Cecille R. Hunt Gallery. Colman will be at the opening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to answer questions about and discuss his art.
Saturday, Nov. 22
• Come to the Pageant for the Loop Underground featuring a Decadent Nation, Santone, Murder Happens and Ray Goss at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door, but free for people over 21 with a ticket. • Ian Burns is the newest featured artist at the Front Room in the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. Using primitive electronics, household objects and other assorted junk, Burns builds kinetic dioramas that produce a simple moving image on screen. Open Tuesday trough Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call (314) 535-4660.
Wednesday, Nov. 26
• Come to the Scottrade Center at 7 p.m. for Guns and Hoses, a 17-round boxing tournament featuring St. Louis area police officers and firefighters. Tickets ranger from $17.50 to $ 27.50 and raises money for the St. Louis BackStoppers, a fund for families who have suffered the loss of police officers and firefighters who've died in the line of duty.
