Patrick McSheehy was a two-sport standout in baseball and soccer during his years at Webster (1997-2002). He lettered four times in both sports and earned multiple All-SLIAC selections.
For McSheehy, the creation of the Athletics Hall of Fame is an important step forward in his eyes.
"If you aren't growing, you aren't succeeding," he said. "You look at the banners in the gym, and the teams are getting better, the facilities are better than ever, so I love it from an alumni standpoint."
McSheehy was a jump-start to some of that success, leading the soccer team to its first two NCAA Tournament berths in the program's history. He also holds school records in baseball for hits, doubles, triples, and runs, and is second all time in home runs, and third in RBIs.
McSheehy, who is the only two-time Webster student athlete of the year, will always remember the countless hours with friends preparing for competition. A graduate in 2002 with a degree in management, he is currently working in home inspections and is active in his local church.
Jerelyn (Guelker) Valin

The Webster University Athletic Hall of Fame opened its doors for the first time, welcoming the best volleyball player that WU has ever seen. Jerelyn (Guelker) Valin was honored Jan. 30 in Grant Gymnasium as one of the first inductees into the new instituted hall of fame.
"This is so great," Valin said. "Being able to participate on the teams when athletics was really moving forward at Webster was wonderful. And, to see where it's at now, it was such an honor to have played."
Valin lead the WU volleyball team from 1994-97, winning Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles in 1994-95 and 1997. She was named first team all-SLIAC from 1995-97 and was selected as the conference player of the year in 1996 and 1997.
Valin established WU's record for solo blocks and is second in block assists. She holds the single season records for both. In 2007, Valin was inducted into the SLIAC Hall of Fame.
